SERMON: A Dramatic Start
SCRIPTURE: Matthew 3:13-17
RESPONSIVE READING--FROM PSALM 9
Leader: I will praise You O Lord, with all my heart
Everyone: I will tell of all Your wonders
Leader: I will be glad and rejoice in You
Everyone: I will sing praise to Your name, O most High
Leader: The Lord reigns forever; He has established His throne for judgment
Men: He will judge the world in righteousness; He will govern the peoples with justice.:
Women: The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, A stronghold in times of trouble.
Everyone: Those who know Your name will trust in You, For You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You
Leader: Sing praises to the Lord, enthroned in Zion; Proclaim among the nations what He has done. Sing praise to the Lord
Everyone: We sing praise to the Lord.
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH—JOHN WESLEY
True faith is the love of God and our neighbor. It is not enough to wish well to others; we must act as well. Let us then, as followers of Christ, be instruments of peace and love in this world. We must overcome evil with good, hatred with love. In all our dealings, let us seek to promote harmony and understanding, for this is the path to true peace
THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name
Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen
