SERMON: God Does It, and So Should We
SCRIPTURE: Matthew 18: 21-25
UNISON READING--PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISSI
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH—JOHN WESLEY
True Faith is the love of Go an our neighbor. It is not enough to wish well to others; we must act well. Let us then, as followers of Christ, be instruments of peace and love in this world. We must overcome evil with good and hatred with love. In all our dealings, let us seek to promote harmony and understanding, for this is the path to true peace
THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name
Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen
