SERMON:  Body Language
SCRIPTURE:  1 Corinthians 12:12-26   and   Luke 4:14-21

RESPONSIVE READING--
Congregational Affirmation (based on 1 Corinthians 12: 12-31)
One:                      The body is a unit, made up of many parts.
Right:    Are all prophets?
Left:                      Do any speak in tongues?
All:                       We are the body of Christ.
One:                      We are baptized by one Spirit and given one Spirit to drink.
Right:    Are any healers?
Left:                      Do all work miracles?
All:                       We are the body of Christ.
One:                      If one part suffers, all suffer with it.  When one part is honored, all are honored with it.
Right:    Are all apostles?
Left:                      Do any interpret?
All:                       We are the body of Christ.
One:                      God has bound us together as the church, so that we might share the
good news that the Kingdom of God is at hand.
Right:    Are any leaders?
Left:                      Do all teach?
One:                      For we are the body of Christ,
All:                       Gathered in love to worship the One who brings us life.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH--THE APOSTLES CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried.  He descended into hell.  On the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name
Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.  Amen
