SERMON: A 1959 Rambler
SCRIPTURE: Matthew 25:31-46
UNISON PRAYER—EUNICE t. GARRAHAN
Lord God, you are a redeeming God. It is not your desire that any of your children should suffer. You hear their cries and you come from Heaven to save. As we gather to remember your saving purposes for all who are oppressed, give us minds, hearts, and wills to hear your word to us, and then to live it. We pray this in the name of Christ the Savior. Amen
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH: CONFESSION OF 1967
The members of the church are emissaries of peace and seek the good of all in cooperation with powers and authorities in politics, culture, and economics. But they have to fight against pretensions and injustices when the same powers endanger human welfare. Their strength is in their confidence that God’s purpose rather than human schemes will finally prevail. Life in Christ is life eternal. The resurrection of Jesus is the sign that God will consummate the work of creation and reconciliation beyond death and bring to fulfillment the new life begun in Christ.
THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name
Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen
